How to get info about location of caller from cellphone/ mobile number??
India is divided into various cellular zones such that within each zone, the call is treated as a local call, while across zones, it becomes a long-distance call. A cellular zone (or cellular circle) is normally the entire state, with a few exceptions like Mumbai (which is a different zone), Goa (which is a part of the Maharashtra zone) or Uttar Pradesh (divided into multiple zones). All mobile numbers in India have the prefix 9 (This includes pager services, but the use of pagers is on the decline). Each zone is allowed to have multiple private operators (earlier it was 2 private + BSNL, subsequently it was changed to 3 private + BSNL in GSM 900/1800, now it also includes 2 private + BSNL in CDMA). All cellphone numbers are 10 digits long, (normally) split up as OO-AA-NNNNNN where OO is the operator code, AA is the zone code assigned to the operator, and NNNNNN is the subscriber number.

Everyday more than 50 lacks of people get calls from various creditcard, banks, insurance or telecom companies even if they don’t need any of these services. Due to this high volume of unwanted calls, people only get disturb and annoyed. TRAI ( Telecom Regulatory of India ) and reserve bank of india has taken steps to put tab on these calls. Every bank or telecom operator now must have to maintain a Do Not Disturb ( DND )/ Do Not Call list (DNC), where people can register and any registered person will be put out of the telemarketing call lists. It takes around a month to get activate this list. So, man if you are frustrated of these calls then below is the list of do not disturb web pages of individual companies. Go there and register and Enjoy a peaceful life.
Calls from certain numbers can also be blocked, as these may be harassing sometimes. These are not telemarketing calls, but calls made by people who know the user. GSM service provider Vodafone Essar became the first in introducing a call filtering service for its users.
DoT authorised the National Informatics Centre (NIC) to set up a “National Do Not Call” (NDNC) registry. A German fixed and mobile solutions-provider was identified by the NIC to provide a solution that would comply with the TRAI recommendations. It is a centralized, server-based solution, which integrates into the operator’s existing infrastructure footprint, automatically blocking the telemarketer’s call to a registered number.
